Both the drive and our campsite are a pleasant surprise! After what everyone had said about Texas being a bore to drive, I was expecting flat and dry, like the southern part of New Mexico, or maybe Oklahoma. Granted, nothing but road, but the terrain was green and varied, and jutted up here and there, requiring cutting through rock to make the road. This revealed layers of unusual strata, rough and shades of tan, certainly not like all that red rock, but interesting to look at. We had started to see oil rigs in NM, and they increased in numbers, and there was a wind farm or two. Hardly a cow to be seen! Can't wait to see what the rest of it is like.
Towns are scarce, and we drove through a ghost town, and Clem had to search for a campground, but boy is it nice! We set up and relaxed a while in the rocking chairs. Clem has decided to make dinner tonight!! That will require a bit of help from me, even though it will only be frozen pizza, but still a treat!!
What a life! Cute site. Enjoy the pizza! At least you are not in the hurricane.
ReplyDeleteright now it we are experiencing a typical tropical storm--gusty, intermittent rain-shoud be gone by the time you arrive!
ReplyDeleteGave Clem instruction in convection oven, and he made a very nice salad! I once told him peanut butter would be fine, if he would make it!! Out in the middle of nowhere, so nice to have our kitchen along!

ReplyDeleteOn the road is back on the computer again!!! Yay!! Tough even for our own hotspot in these far reaches! Don't know if the photos will work, but will try that next.
